The Millennium Series has a new book!

A few years ago, some Swedish author named Stieg Larsson got us caught in a very addicting mystery - where a girl with a really complex personality and some double-standard moral ground tangles herself in an investigation with a non-respected journalist.

The Millennium Series was an intense story, describing not only an unexpected rand strange relationship between Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist, but the solving of several crimes related to women abuse and mob issues.

In the end of the third book, the author left us wanting for more (not only for the way it ended but also by dying without finishing the rest of the saga), but now we can discover what happened to the characters after their last adventure because the fourth part of the story is going to be published between summer and fall of this year!!! 

David Lagercrantz is the author responsible for continue Larsson's legacy and is safe to say that it has a great weight upon his shoulders, because many fans of the series are eagerly expecting this book! Also, and to add some spice into the matter, Lagercrantz has to deal with Eva Gabrielsson disapproval of project. Since Gabrielsson ( Larsson's long-term partner) possesses an unfinished manuscript for the next part of the Millennium series, which is not included in the upcoming fourth novel, she refers to Lagercrantz' work as a "completely idiotic choice": 

“The worst thing is how saddened Stieg would have been. He never let anyone work on his literary texts. He would have been furious. Who knows, maybe he’ll send a lightning bolt at the book launch,” she said.

Aside from all the drama, The Girl in the Spider's Web is expected to be around us on August 27th, 2015, unless you're in the US, in which case you have to wait until September 1st, 2015 - and for those who, like me, can wait to see what's new to Lisbeth and Blomkvist, here's the plot:

"In this adrenaline-charged thriller, genius-hacker Lisbeth Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist face a dangerous new threat and must again join forces.

Late one night, Blomkvist receives a phone call from a trusted source claiming to have information vital to the United States. The source has been in contact with a young female super hacker—a hacker resembling someone Blomkvist knows all too well.

 The implications are staggering.
Blomkvist, in desperate need of a scoop for Millennium, turns to Lisbeth for help. She, as usual, has her own agenda.

Review: Chase Me (Broke and Beautiful #1) - Tessa Bailey

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½

I don't know what is it about a book series where an entire group of male/female friends end up falling for another group of male/female friends... But I kind of LOVE these books!!!! Even if the situation is so unrealistic....

But is safe to say that in the Broke and Beautiful Series' case it has everything to do with the way the author, Tessa Bailey, wrote it and managed the dialogs in it.

With the first book, Chase Me, I absolutely adored how Bailey got me tangled in Roxy and Louis's story, together and individually (because both of them talk from their perspective), and how easy it seems to understand their personalities after you read a couple of chapters.

Also, this book got me laughing from page one - the lite way some of the most absurd situations in the world are presented are going to keep you wanting to know what's coming next!

Is safe to say that if you read the introduction to this book (which you can do in HERE), you cannot imaging reading something that starts in such awkward circumstances but after you jump into it, it kind of make sense with the way everything develops. And, although it has erotic situations, they're only part of the story and not the center of it, which makes the book hot but not excessive in that department.

So, from my point of view, this book is 100% recommended if you want a relax reading, enjoying some crazy and funny lines with characters that can share their chemistry beyond the pages - Great job, Tessa!!! ;)

Ok, so let's get into the juicy details of the book - STOP right HERE if you haven't read the book because I might drop some SPOILERS...

First of all, Bravo to the way the book starts - right to the point!!! No unnecessary introduction to the situation - Roxy is in the elevator in her way to do the most awkward thing she's ever done -- Sing to a guy about his penis in no other that a bunny costume, and from my understanding, not the sexy Playboy kind but the kind the a mascot from some college football team wears. Right in that second you can start to get to know her, how she thinks, why she's doing this and how she feels awful about it.

And then, she's in front of Louis - Josh Duhamel's way of hotness, hangover and with only jeans on it (pretty hot picture, uh?). But the best part about this encounter is that besides the obvious physical portrait of the scene, the author handle it and show us the connection between them - just by the way they speak to each other and even is she's still wearing the costume's mask... All of this in a no cheesy way!

After that, is pretty much a run until the end - you don't want to stop reading! And not because the story is something amazing, at the end is another love story, but because the characters are addictive! 

Roxy's a tough girl, independent and used to handle everything her way - with a difficult start in life, which is presented in the least dramatic way possible (points for this) - she has her dream of being an actress in a city like NY, where without the right connections everything can become extremely complicated -- She's struggling but with a lot of dignity and you can see how she has a really practical way of live her life. I loved that she's not the damsel in distress who's waiting for prince charming to safe her!!

Then there's Louis: handsome, rich and with an enviable kind of life but not spoiled at all (amazing quality to this character) - He wants to be different than his father and so many other lawyers who work only for the money - He wants to work for people who really needs him and basically has some superhero complex - not in the over the top kind of way, but in the normal overprotect-things-I-care-about way.

I was caught by the trail Louis walks to get Roxy to take him seriously and, as the chase continue, the way Roxy slowly falls into his path... They had such attractions going on between them that is really difficult not to feel a little bit jealous.

The rest of the characters are well developed too... Even if you take into consideration that most of them are going to have their own books in the series, you know how Abby is really lonely, how Honey is the souther girl next door, how Russell is the tough guy who doesn't fall in love and how Ben is the serious/respectful type. 

Even some of the other characters, like Louis' crazy twin sisters, the fiance (who is an absolute asswhole!!) and Johan (who is the worst asswhole in the world!!!!) have the right amount of description to get to know them and understand how they sum to the story.

Anyway, the point is this book really surprised me and I'm definitely looking forward for the other two in the series!!!!

Review: Arranged - Catherine McKenzie

(★★★★★ - 5 stars)

I absolutely LOVED this book in so many levels! 

Not only I found really well written and enjoyed the straight-forward romance story, but I found the message between the lines a helpful reminder to most of the women of this generation - that a girl does not need to be marry or have a man to be happy and successful.

If you haven't read the book and you're an eternal romantic, such as myself, you're going to cherish this book! I can assure you! The instant chemistry between the main characters hooks us up into the story and gets us asking for a happy ending!

Is also an unexpected story, with a strange subject but one where you cannot know what's going to happen next - trust me! I've read so many books in my life, I can figure them out pretty much by the second page most of the time! But that was not the case with Arranged, so well done Catherine!!!!

But let's cut this review by the three parts I want to discuss: The Writing - The Story and The Message! 

THIS is the place where you STOP if haven't read the book, because I can get some SPOILERS over the lines!

So, The Writing - in my opinion, pretty good! The author keeps us in the loop all the time without unnecessary information! She goes to the point, but give us the exact amount of descriptions that we are going to need in order to move forward and fall in love with a character or a situation!

I also like the timeline a lot! McKenzie does not give us unrealistic time tables here - things happen in their time and, as the characters, we have to be patient to get to the action - really good trick! She even keeps the main characters, Anne and Jack, apart for more than a year - time where they continue with their lives while coping with their feelings and failures in the meantime. 

They way the book is organized is simple for the reader to follow the different stages of Anne's life and how this stages changed as she move forward. This help us get into the mood the author wants to set in every situation!

Then, there's The Story - Hardcore ROMANCE without the oh-so-cheesy parts. And I'm gonna explain in detail - Anne is a romantic to her bones - named after a heroine in a classic romantic novel, she thinks her happy ending is settle. So, based on this, she picks her guys for all the wrong reasons - because she didn't think she had to try that hard. I can relate to her in some level, since her type of man hits me pretty close (dark hair + blue eyes = yum! hahaha). But like most of us women, she's deceived by this men and by herself so she gets tired of trying and decide that someone else is gonna call the shot for her - in this case, an arranged marriage' agency.

Let's not be to hard on Anne, after all she lives in a society where if you're over 30 (she's 33) and you're not married, you're as good as dead (at least if you're a women) - Her brother, her best friends, her mother and even some of her ex-boyfriends point that out at along the book. So she feels corned and gets desperate - and desperate times call for desperate measures = ARRANGED MARRIAGE to a complete stranger. We can see how she's struggling with her decision even after she mets Jack and feels how compatible they are.

The story flows from how they seem so perfect for each other and your think "how this kind of things can work out at the end?" - to the part where she figures out everything is a lie and her husband is not who she thinks he is - to finally land in how some people who shouldn't be falling in love end completely mad about each other.

I also liked the fact that, while they're together and everything seems great, the main characters continue their work, friends, families and lives as they have them before the marriage, something I really appreciate in a book.

Last but not least, The Message! Is the thing a loved the most about this book. Like I said early in the post, not only Anne but all of us, we're all leaving in a society where marriage is such a big deal - where if you don't achieve it at certain age you're getting behind the line and everything (and everyone) around you are constantly reminding you how lonely you supposedly are or going to be in the future. And this drives a sane person to do something they wouldn't have  ever done, like an arranged marriage. And don't get me wrong, this is something that works for some cultures and I'm not jugging it - but is not the same when you do it because is a tradition (and if you are 100% willing to do it, in the first place) then when you do it out of insecurities and fears (installed there even by your own mother).

I'm also not saying "let's not get marry anymore" because I totally respect the institution and, again, if is something you do from the bottom of your heart then go for it! 

My point, and the reason I absolutely adored this book, is that you have to be happy with yourself first, feel accomplished with what you've done on you own and only THEN share this happiness with someone else who celebrates it and wants it too. I truly believe this is the great message in this book.

Wow - I think I got really inspired by this one! Hahaha
